First, check and make sure there’s no problem. Look both on the pads and between them and the toes for cuts, thorns/slivers, or ticks. Cut: Wash it with just a warm wet washcloth and put on a bit of neosporin. Wrap it with gauze and put a sock over the foot. Let it be, and change the gauze every day. If it’s very bad, and you aren’t sure, you need to see a vet. Thorns/Slivers: Carefully remove it with tweezers. Just apply some neosporin. If the area becomes red or swollen, go to a vet. Ticks: If you have any experience removing ticks, you should be able to safely remove them on your own. If not, go to a vet to make sure the head doesn’t stay in the paw. If you do find ticks, get your dog on some flea and tick meds. If you don’t see anything, then get some bag balm. I know farm and fleet usually has some. Apply a bit a couple times per day. If, within a few days, it isn’t getting any better, hit the vet.
