I had your problems when I moved from the city to a rural area and inherited lots of shrubs and flowers that I knew nothing about at all. Hydrangea's are very demanding and need good soil, plenty of water during dry spells and also regular feeding. They don't do well in cold and frosts so as I live in Scotland we never seem to do well with them. If its an indoor plant try re potting and if its outside give it plant food or try mulching peat round the base.

I can't wait until someone answers this. We just moved to house with a huge hydrangea plant and it only put out one bloom..I was wondering the same thing.

Did they cut the flowers off last year instead of leaving them to die down. We did this one year and the darn plant did not flower until 2 years afterwards.

Why is my friend's hydrangea covered in foliage but no flowers?
