Why is my male Society Finch nesting like a female?
It sounds like he is trying to do what is written on his DNA. Birds live a life cycle. Part of that is breeding and nest building. Just because there is not a female does not mean that they will go on as if that part of their lives do not exist. You can let it go and let him realize that what he does is futile, or you can purchase two females and three nests and let him live for what these tiny birds were created for. To live a life cycle. Three nests because they will fight over what is the best if there are only two. No one wants the worst. A third nest will be outed. Either way you are the cage keeper. If you want babies or not is the question you have to ask yourself. This little guy is only living by his instinct.
