Slow cooling ProDek™ Composite Decking allows the plastic to stay where it belongs, encapsulating the wood fibers keeping our boards strong as well as straight and flat. Whereas flash cooling, which many of our competitors use, in cold water (dropping the hot boards into cold water) causes the plastic to separate from the wood fibers which can weaken the board and allow moisture to get into the board, causing swelling and other problems.
