Why is Providence a great place for a zoo?
Every place should have a zoo! Providence is a big little city. The other two zoos I worked in were seasonal and open in the summer. Many tourists and resort guests visited. Roger Williams Park Zoo is open year-round. So we get a lot more local people coming in and visiting more frequently. I grew up in the woods and to be around animals all the time was second-nature. So I can imagine if you grew up in an urban place like Providence and not always having an immediate connection to nature, having a place like this zoo is a great thing!
