I don't think she is the greatest litterary character ever created. There are so many great characters in litterature : what about Emma Bovary (from Flaubert's "Madame Bovary") or Rastignac (from several Balzac's novels). There are also very complex characters in Dostoïevski's novels... No really, you can't say Scarlett is the greatest litterary character ever. She's mythical, yes, but she's not the only one.
