Why is South America referred to as Latin America?
South America and Latin America are not exactly the same. Latin America referres to the countries were we speak languages that derive from latin (Spanish, Portuguese, French). It extendes from Rio Grande in Mexico to Tierra del Fuego in Chile. That means that Latin America are all countries of the whole America but not USA or Canada. These two are part of Anglo America (because their main language is English). South America does not referres to the language but to the geography. South America does not include Central America or North America. It only includes these countries: Brasil, Argentina, PerĂº, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela, Chile, Paraguay, Ecuador, Guyana,Uruguay and Surinam. In conclusion, South America is part of Latin America but they are not the same.
