Why is the Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) rebuilding the Fay Hut in the summer of 2005?
The Fay Hut was burned in the Tokumm Creek fire in August 2003, in one of the many fires that burned through BC and Alberta forests that summer. From the moment the news was released that the Fay Hut had burned in the fires of 2003, ACC members have been contacting the ACC national office about having the hut rebuilt. Rebuilding the Fay Hut supports continued low-impact access to fine mountaineering opportunities in the area. The ACC Centennial is 2006, and the ACC has chosen the Fay Hut rebuilding as a Centennial project. With strong support and donations from club members, the ACC is able to rebuild the Fay Hut in the summer of 2005.
