Why is the crowd sourcing method being used?

A. : We opted to use ‘Crowd Sourcing’ as it gives us access to a vast group of users who test the software and feedback on how well the development is progressing with the functions, features, and tools they want to use and see included in the package. Investors we initially approached are not convinced that the design, applied arts and arts community is large enough to give them a big enough return quickly enough on their investment. If however, they did invest, the level of return they expect would put the cost of the software out of reach for most individual designer craftsmen. Crowd sourcing fits well with the more open ethos that web2.0 encapsulates.
