Why is the flag displayed backwards on military uniforms?
You may have observed the American flag on military Battle Dress Uniform (BDUs) appears to be backwards and wondered why. The flag, which is worn on the right shoulder of a soldier’s BDUs is backwards to signify the manner/position in which the flag flies when carried into battle.
