Why is the Food Pyramid organized in a pyramid?

0

The food pyramid is organized as a pyramid in order to show how much you need of each food without looking at the serving amounts. For example, breads and grains are at the base of the pyramid, so you would think that you would need the most of them. At the top of the pyramid are fats, oils, and sweets, so you would think that you would want to have the least amount of them. The pyramid was a better idea than just making a square to show because you dont even need to read in order to figure out which you need the most of and which you need the least of.
