Why is the hole in the ozone layer never mentioned nowadays?

Actually, the ozone hole set a record in 2006. It’s been 21 years since the CFC ban and the ozone hole is no smaller. That’s not how they said it would happen – they said it would be a gradual but noticeable improvement and 20 years in it should be at least partially repaired. It’s not. Now their explanation is “the damage from mankind was worse than we’d originally thought and it will take another 30-50 years” – i.e., until the people who dreamed up the issue are retired or dead – quite Orwellian. They got their ban and they’re going to whitewash the fact that they got it based on a hypothesis with zero proof (much like AGW).

It probably is but everyone is concentrating on the doom and gloom of the credit crunch the stock market all the banks closing down and the price of food oil and utility bills i’m sure that once were all over the recession everyone will be back on the subject of the ozone layer one catastrophes at a time

A couple of years ago the ozone hole appeared bigger than ever, despite the banning CFCs. Mentioning the hole would be an embarrassment to those who were using scare mongering tactics in the 80’s including prestigious organizations like NASA.
