Why is the PATH project needed?
The U.S. Department of Energy, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation and PJM all agree new transmission lines must be built to prevent looming reliability concerns. The transmission grid works like a highway system, moving electricity throughout the region. And we have a traffic jam on that system. PJM’s latest reliability analysis confirmed that significant overloads and voltage problems will occur in the region, beginning in June 2014, if the PATH project is not completed.
