Due to some residence halls having older wiring than others, all the local channels can bleed into the system causing double images and or graininess. Be sure to use just enough cable to connect from the wall jack to the television. We have found in the past that students buy a 50 foot RG59 cable and have it rolled up under the bed. This creates its own antenna and will conflict with Campus Cable signals. The best solution is to make sure that your coax cable from the wall jack to the television is a high quality RG-6 cable not RG-59. This cable can be obtained from a local Radio Shack or electronics store.
