Why is there a Internet Springsteen newsgroup and a mailing list?
With an unmoderated forum (newsgroup rec.music.artists.springsteen) and a moderated forum (this mailing list), by definition the moderated forum is for people who don’t want to sift through everything that anybody wants to post; you basically concede some editorial control in exchange for a hopefully more enjoyable end-product. The newsgroup was created in August 1995 because with 2300+ people on LuckyTown, we were having too many growing pains with rehashing old topics, redundant posts, etc. End of Section L.
