Why is venus named after the roman goddess venus?
Aphrodite was the greek goddess of beauty, so the greek astronomers associated her with the planet Venus (because it is so bright). When the Romans copied the Greek’s culture they did the same. When European astronomers wrote about the planets much later on they used Latin and therefore kept the name the Romans used for the planets.
