Why is world hunger a problem with poverty and not a problem with food production?

All the above answers are good. There is enough food on the planet to end world hunger. The difficulty is transporting that food to those that need it in a timely manner. Fresh foods will spoil, and canned/dry goods will be stolen by corrupt governments and/or peoples in authority positions. Many people simply live in areas too remote to reasonably get food to.
