Why is WSDOT improving the intersection at SR 9 and 268th Street?
Left-turning motorists stop the flow of through traffic on Highway 9 at this busy intersection. Cars waiting to turn left increase the risk of rear-end collisions, cause frustration for drivers going straight and create congestion. A new left-turn lane will help solve these problems. A large dip in the road on SR 9 also makes it difficult for drivers accessing SR 9 from 268th Street to select an appropriate gap in traffic. Leveling out the dip will help solve this problem. The End Result When this project is finished, traffic in the area will flow more smoothly, drivers will be able to see better and make safer left turns onto 268th Street.
