Why isn Pakistans National Language Farsi?

0

What a stupid question. Almost no one speaks Farsi in Pakistan! It would be like saying everyone in India should speak Portugese because of Vasco de Gama. No, seriously, NO ONE speaks it. Just the diaspora community, and that would be like saying Chinese should be our national language because of Chinatown, or that the Danish queen reading French poems means that French should be Denmark’s national language. Seriously, stupid question. The real question is why Urdu, rather than Punjabi, is the national language. The vast majority of Pakistanis speak Punjabi, and Pashto and Sindhi are also more widely spoken than Urdu. My guess is that since both Sindhi and Punjabi overlap with the speakers in the Indian regions, the Pakistanis insisted on Urdu. (You know, or do you?, how much the Pakistanis hate the Indians). Who knows.
