Why North American White Ash for dowels?
White Ash is very strong and also flexible. The homer-crushing bat of Barry Bonds is White Ash, as was Babe Ruth’s. Also, the Nature Conservancy has expressed the opinion that it is not an endangered wood source and is one which, under current harvesting practices, can replenish itself. Why hand stain the dowels? The process of hand staining each dowel takes three days because we allow each dowel to dry completely before applying a second coat. By hand is the only way to ensure that stain is applied evenly, and allows us to examine every dowel for strength and straight grain. Where can I find SKY Chairs at craft shows and fairs?
