Why riedel Chardonny glasses bowl are big where as other brands are small bowl?
Chardonnay refers to the grape used to make the wine, so in that sense there’s only one type of Chardonnay. When it comes to wine, there are tons. “Oaked” and “Unoaked” are the two most common types. Oaked Chards (aged or finished in different oak barrels) were popular in California but there’s been a big counter push by unoaked (finished in steel). Unoaked Chardonnay tends to be buttery and fruity, oak adds wood flavors. This Riedel: http://shopping.msn.com/prices/wine-coll… mentions “New World Chardonnay” for the wider-mouth glass, so I’m guessing they’ve designed it with California Chardonnay in mind.
