Why should cell phones be allowed in school ?
Although Cellphones should not be used in school, a student should be allowed to bring a cellphone to school for use on the way home in the event that student needs to contact a parent or authorities should a danger present itself on the way home when school officials and teachers are not present to intervene. A student should also be allowed to bring a cellphone to school if the student is staying at school after regular school hours to play with friends or participate in an after school activity run by volunteers or a private company so emergency contact can be made once the school office has closed and to call and make changes to pick-up arrangements in the event the activity ends early or runs late. I think that parents ought to be allowed to send a cellphone to school with their children as part of emergency planning in the event of a lockdown, earthquake, tornado etc, when school phones will be down or overwhelmed.
