Why should the District maintain their portion of the river if it is not maintained as well upstream and downstream?
The duties of the Vermilion River Outlet Drainage District are to maintain their portion of the river with the funds collected from landowners within the District. Areas upstream and downstream of the Vermilion River from the Bloomer Line Railroad to McDowell are outside the jurisdiction of the District. Regular maintenance of the Districts stretch will be beneficial to those within the watershed whether the upstream and downstream areas are well maintained or not.
