If you buy a new Mac, they all come with Apple’s built-in disc burner software (and iDVD if you have a Superdrive). These programs allow you to insert blank CDs and essentially use them like large floppy discs. (Only if you have free space available on your hard drive, since all Disc burner does is create a 650 or 700 MB disc image on your computer and then burn it to the blank disc once you say you are done with it. They also allow you to burn directly to CD/DVD from the appropriate “iApp” (iTunes, iDVD, etc.) So why would you want to plunk down all that cash for Toast Titanium? As you see in a moment, Toast does not REPLACE Apple’s bundled CD/DVD burning capabilities, it enhances them and adds more options. Plus, Toast Titanium works out of the box (if you got v5.1.4 or later) with Mac OS 9 and OS X. You don’t need separate copies, either. One copy of the application runs in both operating systems.
