Why the change from the HESI PN Exit test to the ATI LPN STEP Assessment test?

0

The DMACC Nursing program selected Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) to serve as a curriculum support program, fall 2009. The DMACC Nursing program switched from HESI to ATI comprehensive tests for enrolled students in the fall of 2010. The Practical Nursing students now take an ATI Practical Nursing Comprehensive Exit Exam before they graduate and progress to the ADN level program. This exam is similar in content to the ATI LPN STEP Assessment which Advanced Standing Nursing applicants are now required to take. This assures that both groups of students starting the RN (Associate Degree Nurse) level of the program whether immediate DMACC PN graduates or practicing LPN’s pursing their RN will take a comparable assessment test.
