These drugs stimulate cardiac properties which is useful in cardiogenic shock and acute heart failure. However, if this stimulation exceeds a certain limit it can lead to tachycardia, anginal pains and arrhythmia which are serious consequents in such patients. Accordingly, we aim at supporting the heart but not go beyond a certain red line. In addition, dopamine may have different effects according to the dose used starting from renal vasodilatation, passing by cardiac stimulation and finally increasing the ABP.
