Why they put fish at the root of tobacco plant?

0

Native people traditionally planted their food this way.Tobacco was considered a sacred plant important for ceremonial use.The Three Sisters( corn, beans and squash) were always planted together in a hole in which a fish was first buried this was to feed the plants and it does! As the fish decomposes( rots) it provide nitrogen, calcium and other nutrients to help the plant grow.Tobacco is a plant that is a heavy feeder.(It uses up many nutrients from the soil) it needs to be fertilized and fish is a good way to do it.The Three sisters were planted together so that the beans could add nitrogen to the soil and climb up the corn and support it.The squash would shade the roots and stabilize the ground and the fish would fertilize them all.
