Why this particular solution – preventing buyers from receiving negative and neutral Feedback from sellers?
Since buyers take the primary risk in a transaction (sending money to a stranger), the primary goal of the Feedback system has to be to enable buyers to accurately assess seller performance to facilitate safe & satisfactory trade. Buyer fear of seller retaliation has reduced the credibility of the Feedback system and undermined trust, and therefore, trade in the marketplace. Doesn’t this change create an imbalanced system? We believe we will reduce any imbalance in the Feedback system with these changes. Buyers will be able to more accurately assess sellers and sellers will be protected from buyers who breach our policies (via the Unpaid Item system and other reporting) without risking a cut in good buyer activity.
