Why Use a Gasoline Additive?
Gasoline contains impurities that contribute to the deterioration of the combustion process. Additives are required to control deposit formation, however today’s fuels lack sufficient treatments. Fuel either doesn’t contain enough additives or the additives are not of the highest quality. In fact, deposits begin forming immediately even with refinery treated gasoline. Combustion chamber deposits create hot spots that cause gasoline to ignite prematurely, which is often the cause for engine knock. Intake valve deposits soak up fuel like sponges, which disturbs the precise air fuel ratio, again leading to poor engine performance and sometimes knock.
