Why use the iSeries as a eMail server hardware platform?

0

SuSe Linux extends the iSeries support offerings. CMI has chosen to utilize Linux by installing Bynari’s InsightServer for reliability, manageability and scaleabillity. • Reliability – Like many businesses today, eMail has become a vital solution at CMI. The IBM iSeries hardware uptime and the Linux reputation together provide us the assurances we require. • Manageability – Network storage spaces and shared processors provide the Linux partition the resources and OS/400 backup and restore utilities provide the disaster recovery. Each IFS backup to our high speed magnetic media also includes the network storage spaces. These network storage spaces are maintained with the OS/400 IFS utilities without requiring additional hardware or application software. • Scaleability – This solution has already proven itself through processor sharing and DASD utilization. In fact, our initial configuration was too small and an additional network storage space was added to the Linux LVM without downtime
