Why was Bilingual Forensic Neuropsychology Practice started?
Despite the growing field of Forensic Neuropsychology, the disparity of expert witness in services in this area provided to the Hispanic Community was alarming. In most cases, lawyers had to utilize neuropsychologist that did not speak Spanish, or translators who were not fluent enough to conduct appropriate interviews and testing. The lack of suitable cross-cultural, bilingual experts with solid knowledge of neuroscience to ensure adequate neuropsychological consultation, evaluation, and deposition, generated questionable ethical issues and led to the mismanagement of cases.
