Why was Louisville Colorado named the best place to live in America?”
LOUISVILLE, Colo. – A big honor for one of metro Denver’s smaller suburbs. CNNMoney.com has named Louisville the #1 “Best Place to Live” in America. Just a few miles east of the Rockies, CNNMoney says Louisville has the perfect location, charm and energy, and is “weathering the economic downturn well.” It cited the city’s high-tech, energy and health care industries which make Boulder County’s unemployment rate among the lowest in the state. The publication also mentioned Louisville’s 30 miles of trails, close proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park, low crime rate and quality schools. Here’s the CNNMoney.com’s Top 10: 1. Louisville, Colo. 2. Chanhassen, MN 3. Papillion, NE 4. Middleton, WI 5. Milton, MA 6. Warren, NJ 7. Keller, TX 8. Peachtree City, GA 9. Lake St. Louis, MO 10.
Some towns nestled along the Rockies are full of pretentious eco-hipsters. Not Louisville. Ice cream shops dot the historic downtown. Families grab burgers at the cozy Waterloo Café. A Friday-night street fair, with a beer garden, live music, and games for the kids, runs all summer. No wonder this down-to-earth town has appeared high on Money’s Best Places list before–and on many others. It’s also weathering the economic downturn well. Robust industries in the area, such as high tech, energy, and health care, make county unemployment among the lowest in the state. But the top reason residents give for moving here? The great outdoors. Louisville is laced with nearly 30 miles of trails, Rocky Mountain National Park is less than an hour away, and eight world-class ski resorts are within two hours. The town’s schools are highly rated as well. Add in dry, clear weather, little crime, good health care, and low taxes, and Louisville is pretty tough to beat.
Money magazine Monday named Louisville, Colo., the best place to live in America. The magazine based its rankings on quality of life issues like median income, schools, home prices and unemployment. No cities or towns in New York were among the top 100, according to the magazine’s rankings. New York state was also left off lists of high-income towns, cities with the top job=growth rates and places with the most affordable homes.
