Why was Machakos-Kitui road repair stopped?
On September 24, last year, Mr Peter Mutua wrote to ask acting Roads Minister Chris Obure why the contractor who had started work on the Machakos-Kitui Road had suddenly withdrawn from the site (Still dreaming of smooth road). Apart from the frustrations road users had been left with, Mutua warned some sections had been turned into death traps. This week he has written to remind Roads Minister Franklin Bett those concerns are yet to be addressed. He also alleges many lives were lost in December owing to the poor state of the road.
