Why were people so excited about the ping pong demo when the robot demo looked so much better?
Things can look beautiful, but if they run like molasses than it means nothing. What the ping pong demo showed was that the system could easily handle complicated processes and computations, and make it all look as smooth as silk. That means lots of characters on screen, tons of animation, and complicated AI could all come together without ever clogging down a system.
