Why were some communities submitted by states and tribes omitted from the list?
Because of the specifics of Congressional direction, the list included in this notice contains only those communities identified by states or tribes as “in the vicinity of federal lands.” A complete list of all 22,127 communities submitted by the states and tribes is available from the National Association of State Foresters (www.stateforesters.org).
