Why were the Romanovs killed and who was Rasputin?

The revolution came and the Romanovs executed because of the rise of the people of Russia who thought that the Imperial Family had lived in luxury and excess while they all lived in the worst of poverty. WW I sparked much of the revloution, but revolution had been ripe for many years in Russia. When Nicholas abdicated his throne in , he did so not only for himself but for his son also, which left his brother Michael as heir to the Romanov dynasty. He was also executed. Alexandra’s sister Ella, who was also married to a Grand Duke, was thrown down a mine shaft alive
