High school students (secondary members) do not compete against postsecondary collegiate competitors in any event, including EMT. That is the HOSA policy for state and national competitive events. In most states and at the national level, secondary and postsecondary collegiate student do compete in the same location, sometimes in front of the same judges, but the scores are always separate. At the NLC, there is a separate awards session for Secondary and Postsecondary Collegiate members, and medals are awarded to the top three teams in each division.
