Why will the change to an Alternating weekly collection system increase recycling rates?

0

Waste sorted for recycling – including food waste – will be collected weekly. Waste not sorted for recycling will be collected on alternate weeks only and in a limited volume. All households will have to sort their waste for recycling if they are not going to be left with surplus rubbish. We believe a combined recycling/composting rate of between 45%and 50% is possible following the introduction of the Alternating weekly collection service. This would double the current rate.
