Why women failed to gain the right to vote in between 1900 and 1914?

Many reasons. There were a lot of MPs and politcal figures who believed that women should have had the vote but bills to introduce the vot for women kept getting blocked, mostly by conservative MPs and the house of lords. They almost got the vote in 1911 when Prime Minister asquith introduced a bill called ‘the conciliation bill’ which would have given women the vote. It got a majority in the house of commons and was about to be passed when asquith dropped it (he was a terrible prime minister) The people of the time believed that women couldn’t be trusted with the vote, and were too ‘pure’ to be involved with ‘grubby’ british politics. Many women themselves thought that women should not be trusted with the vote. The tactics of the suffragettes didn’t help. They were known for violence and after 1911, they stepped up their campaign of vioence.
