Yes, there are technical standards written by the Wold Wide Web Consortium that web browser developers are supposed to follow. But developers, being human, interpret these standards differently, or don’t implement some standards. While some browsers have reputations for being better or worse than others when it comes to web standards, no browser is perfect. The best you can do is: • Follow Web Standards. • Make sure your code validates. Use the W3C HTML validator and correct all errors in your page. Use the W3C CSS validator, too. • Test your page in many browsers on Mac, Windows, and Unix platforms if you can. • Be aware of the differences in browsers and design accordingly.
