Why would my bowel movements smell like ammonia?

Ammonia smells come from excess nitrogen. Nitrogen is present at almost all times in your stomach. It is probably being pushed into your intestines when you digest food that includes the Milk of Magnesia. more

Ammonia smelling stools can be attributed to bacteria overgrowth or nitrogen being insufficiently digested or improperly metabolized. When food is insufficiently digested, the non-absorbed food can then become food for harmful bacteria. At any rate it is a toxin in your body
