You have heard all the negative answers now let me tell you about induction generators. All you have to do is drive the induction motor above its’ synchronous speed and it will produce power. The torque speed curve continues into the power generation side and its’ shape is similar. For this reason you do not want to operate too much above synchronous speed. The control for this operation is somewhat complex because you do not want to be connected to the power system before the unit is above synchronous speed.
