Will a faulty gas valve (honeywell) cause flame to rise and fall?
You would need to check the pressure at the regulator. You may have a long pipe from the tank to the house and the gas could be oscillating. That happens with long small diameter pipes. You could have a partially closed valve. I hope you don’t have two regulators, one at the tank and one at the furnace, the regulator vents could be causing trouble especially if one is piped outside. The wind could be messing it up. The gas may be Ok, but you may have a draft problem because of the fluctuating air pressure in the house and outside. I am sorry i can’t be there. These are just things to look for. I doubt the honeywell valve is malfunctioning. They only put variable flow valves on very expensive industrial equipment, and if it was one of those, it would have control wires for that and a computerized controller.
