Will a vendor replace its database of information used to answer Bids and other RFPs and reduce its operating costs with increased efficiency using OpenRFP?
Because of the nature of library RFP/RFI formats, whether initiated by OpenRFP, or by the library locally, or by the library with the help of a consultant, it is unlikely the vendor can abandon its own database of standard “boilerplate” responses to bid questions. In this respect it is unlikely there would be any initial reduction in operating costs for the vendor using OpenRFP. However, our expectation is that the vendor’s database of collateral information can be linked to that of OpenRFP using XML tagging structures. Our goal, therefore, would not be to replace the vendor’s database of product description but to avoid duplicate database maintenance. Vendor updates would be exchanged with our systems in an efficient data transfer format.
