Will alcohol be banned from work related socialising?
Staff who for religious reasons (or for any other reasons) do not want to drink alcohol may begin to feel excluded if all social occasions organised for or by their work team is alcohol centred. Networking takes place during social activities and it can be disadvantageous for staff who are always absent from these events. Employers (and employees), are recommended to try and vary the activities so that the drinking of alcohol is not always the central or primary focus of work/team social activities. In the end, it is really about being sensitive and inclusive. Managers need to consult with their team regularly to ensure no one is feeling excluded (for whatever reason).
