First off the doc should have taken a throat culture! It COULD be something other than strep throat. If it is, though, augmentin is a good choice. Augmentin is a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Anything that ends in “cillin” will ALWAYS kill Group A strep. Hope you feel better soon!
