Will Barack Obama Tighten Rules on Proselytizing in the Military? Over the course of George W. Bush’s administration there have been growing problems with conservative evangelical Christians treating the armed forces as means to their own theological ends be they conversion of Muslims in the Middle East or conversion of Americans to a particular brand of Christianity. It’s gone on for too long, it’s gone way too far, and it’s got to stop. But will Barack Obama make any effort to stop it? The Secular Coalition for America has made an official request to the Obama transition team that he address this matter so that people in the military are protected from harassment and unwanted proselytization.
