Also 85% of ALL sore throats are viral and thus totally unaffected by antibiotics. Overall, even in bacterial sore throats, the effect of antibiotics is statistically to reduce the symptoms by no more than 24 hours. For this reason many good doctors rarely prescribe antibiotics for a sore throat.
