Currently, SmartSynch is providing 1,000 SmartMeters and the cellular network services to enable two-way communications between MLGW and participating customers. MLGW will closely monitor and evaluate the success of the project to evaluate a smart meter roll out for all customers. Currently, MLGW households use 36 percent more electricity than the U.S. average. If the trial deployments are successful and cost effective, then SmartSynchs SmartMeters and cellular networks will be considered for a complete systemwide deployment.
