When your body is dehydrated it will lack the proper amounts of needed nutrients. Your cells will deconstruct tissue and other cells to vampire and conserve nutrients within your body. If you are hydrated, your body easily maintains itself. It improves everything from circulation to your digestive tract. So for obvious reasons, your digestive tract is optimal and your circulation and blood flow help “clean itself”. So basically, your body can improve it’s metabolism and “run optimal” when it doesn’t have to worry about dehydration. As for cold water, I’m not sure on any numbers, but it is mostly true. Your body has to keep all your fluids, be it or blood or mucus, at a default temperature around 98.6F of course. When you drink cold water, your body will consume more calories by working to get the water to its optimal temperature. Thought I can’t imagine it will have any significant impact. It can also be considered unhealthy in some aspects by drinking only cold water, as some believe

Hmmmm…..Water itself is not going to make you lose weight. It’s more about the side effects of drinking a lot of water while dieting that help you to stay on track and lose more weight. Drinking diet sodas and other soft drinks can sabotage a diet because they make you hungrier and crave snacks. Water keeps you full and keeps you running to the bathroom and flushes your system faster. I would think that cold water burns calories because your body is at a higher temperature and the heat in your body will bring the water temp up…thus you are giving off energy to bring the water to body temp. energy=fuel, fuel=calories. so you do burn calories in the process….but its probably negligible. As a side note I’ve heard that for hydration purposes its better to drink room temperature water or even warm water, as very cold water is shocking to the system and needs to go through the warming up phase to rehydrate your cells. If you are really dehydrated it could cause cramping I’d think.
